On 29 March, Ghada Abu Halima died in an Egyptian hospital from injuries she suffered when struck by white phosphorous on January 4. Phosporus cannot be put out. It must be dug out. It can burn for weeks in the human body. It penetrates deeply and can cause heart and liver damage.

Why would Israel lobby against a speech? They knew it would be critical of Israel. But Israel is a democracy, often touted as the only democracy in the Middle East. When they stop criticism, what kind of democracy is that?
Guilty of Being Poor
In courts around Georgia, people who are charged with misdemeanors and cannot pay their fines that day in court are placed on probation under the supervision of private, for-profit companies until they pay off their fines. On probation, they must pay these companies substantial monthly “supervision fees” that may double or triple the amount that a person of means would pay for the same offense.
Most would probably say it doesn't matter, but knowing the southern states record on their treatment of 'people of color', it would be interesting to know the race of the people involved. -KG
