What if it Were Your Child?

http://uruknet.com/?p=m66623&hd=&size=1&l=e

...even if a 12-year old had thrown stones at an Israeli army jeep, which is fully armored and bullet-proofed, how could this possibly constitute a threat to the soldiers’ lives? And even if that child had thrown stones at an occupation soldier (a right he is entitled to by the way), torturing him and abusing him sexually cannot be justified even by the staunchest of Israel supporters.

http://desertpeace.wordpress.com/2007/02/01/live-from-palestine-a-childs-first-words/

Walking to school and back is not the pleasant walk with friends, it is a ‘risk your life’ situation. When a child does not show up in class the others do not assume that he is home sick, they assume that he was shot dead on his way to school.

I know it's been a while since I've posted to the blog. Apologies, between being busy and being lazy I've let a few things go. I'm back to it now, emphasizing the cost of war for resources on children and the fact that you are paying for it! Doncha feel good?

Using Human Shields Equates Morality In Israel

http://politicaltheatrics.org/2009/10/10/using-human-shields-equates-morality-in-israel/

I don't really like this picture as it gives only a snapshot of an obviously more complex situation. It could be interpreted as the soldier protecting the civilian, which may indeed be true as I don't know if this image was taken during Cast Lead or not and the civilian is not between the soldier and what he's shooting at, but the soldier is actually shielding the civilian between himself and a brick wall.
I do know that Human Rights Watch claims that the IDF (i.e Israeli Defense Forces) used Palestinian civilians as human shields during the 2002 Battle of Jenin. So is one side doing it and the other not? or vice versa? Only more research can tell from a distance. In the meantime, Palestinians are being killed at a rate that far outstrips the rate of Israelis even being injured. Children starved, allowed to sicken and die. If this is not apartheid, then please tell me what it is... and make your case.

Mayor says army obstructing annual harvest

Shreteh told Ma’an that the Israeli army had prevented a number of farmers from reaching their land west of the town and asked ordered them not to return to the Wad Abu Qare area.

Shreteh added that the purported practices were intended to confiscate 600-700 acres from the town’s lands via attacks on farmers and forbidding them from entering their privately owned land.

“All of the Palestinians must be killed; men, women, infants & even their beasts.” -Rabbi Yisrael Rosen, director Tsomet Inst

Only Jews and those who are useful to them are allowed to live and thrive... oops, did I say thrive? I just meant live.

Israeli settlers gun down Palestinian youth

http://www.presstv.com/detail.aspx?id=91704&sectionid=351020202

"one of the settlers "had a stoppage in his gun," and thus was unable to shoot the Palestinian, so "the other man neutralized the terrorist and killed him."

The terrorist, with a knife, who was accosted by two men with guns. Damn those Palestinians, how dare they try to protect themselves... why don't they just roll over and die like good animals?

Israel is Changing the Rules of War

One soldier commented: "That’s what is so nice, supposedly, about Gaza: You see a person on a road, walking along a path. He doesn’t have to be with a weapon, you don’t have to identify him with anything and you can just shoot him."

Stop Arming Israel

http://original.antiwar.com/giraldi/2009/03/30/stop-arming-israel/

U.S.-made weapons have been used to commit war crimes by the Israelis in 1982, 2006, and, most recently in Gaza in January. In 1982, the United States did suspend the sale of cluster weapons to Israel when it was determined that they had been used against Lebanese and Palestinian civilians in violation of the conditions of sale. In 2006 and 2009, the United States not only looked the other way when cluster and white phosphorus weapons were used, it also empowered the Israelis by permitting the fighting to continue and providing political cover for the crimes that were being committed. After the fact, Washington intervened at the UN to stop any condemnation of Israeli crimes, and it has refused to consider any reports by investigative bodies that have attempted to document the Israeli actions. Most recently, the U.S. has described a UN report on atrocities committed in Gaza "biased."
